The SAT is a standardized test on reading, writing, language, and math. The SAT is given globally, and recognized by colleges and universities in the U.S and other countries. According to the article “What’s the Highest Possible SAT Score?”, “A perfect SAT score is incredibly rare. Of these, just 8% (118,704 students) scored between 1400 and 1600.(Edwards , 2021)” This percentage shows just how difficult it is to get a perfect score on the SAT, but for Justin Ricketts, Co-President of BSU, he made it happen.

“In terms of how I prepared for the SAT, what really helped me was knowing the kind of questions that are going to be on the SAT. The SAT isn’t really about knowledge it’s more of knowing how to answer the questions. Understanding what a question could be asking for, especially in the reading and writing section. I also reviewed basic geometry and algebra skills. I checked online for math questions they would ask and made sure I was confident in my skills. Practicing with PSAT questions also helped.” said Ricketts.

By reviewing old PSAT material and the basic skills Ricketts already had, he was able to score a 1600 on the SAT. This will prepare Ricketts for his journey to college.
